First impressions of Malaysia, LOVE IT. It's a nice feeling to be back in a big city, but instead of a ridiculous population and chaotic streets jam packed with mopeds, it's home to only 1.8 million, everything feels more open but still there is that air of chaos in the buzzing hubs of Chinatown and little India.
We met a German girl called Meika at the airport (I hope that's how you spell it), day 1 we wen't exploring the city.
The Petronas Towers, not the best photo of them, they were HUGE. Walking around the city made me feel like a tiny weeny ant. It was very clean and the shopping malls stretched for miles, all a bit too posh for my liking. We went in search of the Kuala Lumpar communication tower to get some good views of the city and hopefully see the sunset.
A few sights on the way...
This is the KL Tower poking out between the buildings. It is 421m high, there is a revolving restaurant on the top, although you have to book in advance and the food was probably REALLY pricey, so we didn't bother with that, instead we made our way to the viewing deck.
Happiest camel ever?
Meika spotted this, we all thought it was really beautiful how the busy metropolis emerged from the green luscious nature. A really nice contrast.
A view from just below the KL tower.
The view from the top was pretty spectacular.
Then the storm came in...
You could walk around to one side and it was blue skies and then dark evil clouds on the other. The city started to take on a really menacing, ghost like atmosphere as the dark clouds, rain and lightening swallowed it up. Eventually the storm completely surrounded the tower.
Day 2.
We took a train to the Batu Caves, they are a huge network of limestone tunnels. The massive Hindu statue is actually visible in the photos above from the KL tower, it was HUGE.
What the hell is going on here, haha? (Below) Very strange indeed.
A few shots from inside the caves, and the monkeys that were everywhere.
After the caves we wen't back to Central market in Chinatown, we found a pasty which made me happy :) (I posted a photo on Facebook).
The next day we booked a transfer to the Cameron Highlands. Goodbye KL
